The dark base was lit by single candles outstretched by stone sculpted snakes firmly held to the wall. Orochimaru leant just below one as he scanned over a scroll, a new technique he decided he should know. He let his golden eyes flip across the words as he memorized each phrase and concept, he could hear the sound of the strong winds outside, as well as the rumble of thunder every occasional few minutes. The male hated the icy weather, perhaps he was too much like a snake after all he mused, cold blooded. He narrowed his eyes at the draft passing through the hall way he stood in, almost in a vein hope that the winds would stop for him, as if he could control nature and its very course.
He brushed a hand through his long black hair hanging loosely in his face before moving deeper in to the base in an attempt to escape the weather. He passed the large machines he worked with, he found himself rather uninspired now to do the work he always enjoyed doing on most other days. He placed the scroll he had been holding down as his eyes fell to his cluttered desk. Notes of his research lay there waiting for him to pick them up and continue their progress. He did not have the care to do so now so he opted to rather tidy the rather messy display up. Without thinking his eyes shifted to the door of his hideout, he could sense movement, but that was not uncommon. Many ninja passed over his base, it was after all underground and hard to notice unless the shinobi was indeed looking for the den itself.
The deep sound of thunder disturbed his brewing; he had a habit of delving deeply in to his own thoughts but recently he had been trying to stop himself from doing so. The day had put him in an irritable mood, although he did not show it on his face, remaining collected and calm. It was not that anything had particularly gone wrong, the weather not enough to make him so ill-tempered. It was more that nothing had happened at all. When he became slightly bored of his current projects he decided to take a momentary break, he had thought learning a new jutsu would help. It did not, the serpent needed more stimulation than that. He knew plenty jutsu, not all of them yet, but certainly enough to make the scroll he had been holding seem pointless.
He wondered if the world above him would have more to offer his uninspired mind, his hair held together at the bottom swished behind him as he returned to the cold entrance of his base. He would not let others see him, not all had pardoned his old ways. Not that it mattered much to him what they thought, he opted for a more peaceful outing. He let his eyes scan the area, he did not want parole to notice him. He had snuck out unnoticed before and he wished to do so again if possible. Although he wished to get out the dark halls the cold blocked his exit. He paused at the door and waited to see if it was truly worth it, or if he should simply go back to work and not be so childish about his duties.
